Brooke Cunningham, MD, PhD, the Commissioner of Health for Minnesota, recently testified at a state legislative hearing about the Protect Reproductive Options (PRO) Act. Dr. Cunningham characterized access to reproductive healthcare options as an equity issue: “Constraining reproductive choice and access will worsen health disparities, especially maternal and child health disparities…. Minnesota already has some of the worst disparities in the country on a number of metrics, and we need to focus on lifting up the health of all and avoiding any steps that make those disparities worse.”
