Paula M. Lantz, Daniel S. Goldberg, Sarah E. Gollust

The authors argue that the medicalization of public health “pose[s] serious impediments to the research, resource allocation, and public policies needed for meaningful improvements in population health outcomes, including the reduction of long-standing social inequities in health.” They “conclude by offering strategies needed to counter the perils of medicalization in order to achieve sustained population health improvement and health equity.”
